Watch Cattlemen to Cattlemen Week 11; Original Air Date: Tuesday, April 17, 2007

This week’s Special Edition of NCBA’s Cattlemen to Cattlemen focuses on President Bush’s speech at the NCBA Spring Legislative Conference. President Bush’s address offered cattlemen in attendance a rare opportunity to hear directly from the president on issues such as repeal of the Death Tax, international trade, the 2007 Farm Bill, and national security. Many Spring Conference attendees also got a face-to-face visit with President Bush – a memory that will last a lifetime.

Cattlemen to Cattlemen focuses on several specific aspects of the president’s address, including the need for tax relief and fiscal discipline in the federal budget. We also hear from the president on the benefits of opening new overseas markets for U.S. beef.

President Bush also spoke about the need for Congress to renew his trade promotion authority (TPA) by July 1. NCBA Chief Executive Officer Terry Stokes and NCBA Chief Economist Gregg Doud explain the importance of TPA to the nation’s cattlemen, and how losing TPA could hinder efforts to expand overseas markets.

We’ll also visit with NCBA President John Queen on the honor of introducing the president to the NCBA delegation, grab a behind-the-scenes look at the extensive preparations required for a presidential visit, and review NCBA’s long history of working closely with presidents from both political parties.
