Watch: Cattlemen to Cattlemen Week 5; Original Air Date: March 6, 2007

This week’s episode of NCBA’s Cattlemen to Cattlemen looks at the impact of severe winter weather and high feedgrain prices on feedlot placements. Kevin Good of Cattle-Fax discusses some interesting regional trends.

Debate is heating up in Congress on the 2007 Farm Bill. Reporter Jim Whitt examines USDA’s Farm Bill initiatives, including changes to some conservation programs and efforts to expand international export markets.

Weather-related disasters have taken a toll on farm and ranch families in recent months. National Cattlemen’s Foundation chairman Bob Josserand explains the foundation’s efforts to provide assistance.

At the Cattle Learning Center, Dr. Bill Clymer of Fort Dodge Animal Health joins reporter Todd McCartney for tips on properly deworming a cattle herd.

And Cattlemen to Cattlemen goes on the road to Greeley, Colorado, to explore the legacy of cattle industry pioneer W.D. Farr. Mr. Farr’s contributions to farming and ranching span 75 years, including innovations in cattle feeding, development of a uniform beef grading system, water development and management, and banking and finance. NOTE: Country music star Michael Martin Murphey headlines Operation Blizzard Benefit – a benefit concert to help farm and ranch families devastated by this year’s winter storms. The concert will be held March 18 in Pueblo, Colorado. Visit www.blizzardbenefit.org for more information, and to find out how you can help those in need.
