Watch Cattlemen to Cattlemen Week 21: Original Air Date June 26, 2007:

This week’s edition of NCBA’s Cattlemen to Cattlemen features a collection of Cattle Learning Center segments from Pfizer Animal Health.

First, veterinary experts from Pfizer Animal Health show you the benefits of conducting a breeding soundness exam well in advance of the breeding season. A regular exam will help maintain quality and maximize productivity in your herd. Click here for more on this topic.

Next, Cattlemen to Cattlemen travels to the Meat Animal Research Center in Nebraska, where animal health experts discuss proper selection, handling and administration of vaccines. Dr. Dale Gretelueschen of Pfizer Animal Health and Dr. Dee Griffin of the University of Nebraska walk you through important steps such as cleaning, handling and storing syringes and needles, as well as proper chute-side techniques and practices. Learn more by visiting www.marc.usda.gov.

Finally, we join veterinarians Glenn Rogers and Arn Anderson in Texas, where they conduct diagnostic tests on some bulls being sold by a client as part of the buyer’s overall herd health plan. Rogers, of Pfizer Animal Health, and Anderson, of Cross Timbers Veterinary Hospital, also discuss the importance of having a working relationship with a veterinarian who understands your operation and herd health needs. Find more tips on creating a herd health plan here.
