Watch Cattlemen to Cattlemen Week 38: Original Air Date October 23, 2007:

Lee Leachman of Leachman Cattle of Colorado joins Susie Ross in-studio to explain the importance of quality genetics when building or expanding a cattle herd. Properly investing in genetics can pay big dividends in the quality and marketability of your calves.

Plus, this fall, more than 270 members of the cattle industry traveled to Billings, Montana to attend a symposium which focused on applied reproductive strategies.  This two-day program brought cattlemen the latest reproductive information that can be used to improve an operation's efficiency and profitability.  To learn more about Applied Reproductive Strategies in Beef Cattle meetings, visit westcentral.unl.edu/beefrepro.

Cattle persistently infected with bovine viral diarrhea or BVD can cause problems in your herd and for your bottom line.  But now, a project called the BVD-PI screening project is working to improve overall cattle health.  Read more about the project at montana.edu/cpa/news/nwview.php?article=3795.

And this week, we head west to sunny California where rancher Duane Martin has spent his life tending the cattle and the land in northern California.
